Privacy Policy

Wardrowbe is a self-hosted wardrobe management application. Your privacy is fundamental to how we designed this product. When you self-host Wardrowbe, your data stays on your own server. When using our hosted service, we collect only what is necessary to provide the service.

Account Information

• Email address (from your identity provider)
• Display name
• Profile picture URL (if provided by your identity provider)

Wardrobe Data

• Photos of clothing items you upload
• Clothing metadata (type, color, brand, notes) — partially generated by AI analysis of your photos
• Outfit suggestions and your feedback on them
• Style preferences you configure
• An optional shopping preference (menswear, womenswear, or everything) that scopes partner product suggestions; we do not collect gender

Location Data

• Approximate location (city-level) if you opt in, used solely for weather-based outfit suggestions

Device Information

• Push notification tokens (if you enable notifications), used only to deliver outfit suggestions

Partner Store Suggestions

• Which partner product suggestions were shown to you, and which you clicked or dismissed (including the reason you gave for dismissing)
• A one-way keyed hash of your IP address and your browser or app user agent at the moment you click a suggestion, kept to detect fraudulent click and conversion activity. We do not store the raw IP address.
• If you buy something from a partner after clicking, the store reports the order amount and its own order reference back to us, so we know the value of that purchase

• Clothing photos are analyzed by AI to automatically tag attributes (type, color, pattern, material). Photos are stored on the server and never shared with third parties.
• Location data is used exclusively to fetch local weather for outfit suggestions. We do not track your movements.
• Style preferences and feedback improve the AI recommendation engine for your account. If partner store suggestions are turned on, your wardrobe and preferences also determine which partner products you are shown. This matching happens on our servers; partners are not given your wardrobe or your preferences.
• Push tokens are used solely to send outfit suggestion notifications at your configured schedule.

Wardrowbe uses AI models to analyze clothing photos and generate outfit suggestions. When self-hosted, you choose your own AI provider (Ollama, OpenAI, or any compatible API). On our hosted service, photos are sent to our configured AI provider for analysis. We do not use your photos or data to train AI models.

What Face Data We Process

Photos you upload to Wardrowbe (clothing photos and virtual try-on person photos) may incidentally contain faces. When you use the virtual try-on feature, you upload a photo of yourself that necessarily includes your face and body. Our AI analyzes these images solely to identify clothing attributes (type, color, pattern) and to generate virtual try-on composites.

How Face Data Is Used

• Wardrowbe does not perform facial recognition or create face prints/templates.
• Wardrowbe does not use face data to identify individuals or for biometric authentication.
• Clothing analysis AI is instructed to analyze only the garment — it does not extract or store facial features, skin tone, or body measurements from photos.
• Virtual try-on AI processes your person photo to overlay garment images. The AI does not extract or store facial geometry, biometric identifiers, or facial feature vectors.

Third-Party Sharing

Photos containing faces are sent to our configured AI provider exclusively for clothing analysis or virtual try-on generation. We do not share face data with any other third parties. Our AI providers process images transiently and do not retain them for training or other purposes.

Storage & Retention

Uploaded photos (which may contain faces) are stored on the server for as long as your account is active or until you delete the specific item or try-on session. Virtual try-on person photos can be deleted individually from the app. When you delete your account, all photos including any that contain faces are permanently and irreversibly deleted.

We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we never have. Your wardrobe items, your photos, your outfit history and your preferences are accessible to you and to members of your family group (if you create or join one). We do not hand them to anyone else.

Two things do leave our servers, and we would rather spell them out than hide behind a blanket promise:

• Aggregate demand statistics. Store partners can see pooled, anonymous statistics across our user base: how many wardrobes contain a given type of item, the most common colors and styles for that type, and the average price paid. These are counts and averages across many people. They contain no names, no accounts, no photos, and nothing that identifies you. If you turn partner suggestions off, your wardrobe is excluded from these statistics entirely.
• Your click, when you choose to make it. If you click a partner suggestion, you are sent to that store's website. As with any link you follow anywhere on the web, the store then sees your IP address and browser, and can set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. We attach an anonymous suggestion reference to the link so the store can tell us a sale came from Wardrowbe. That reference points to the suggestion, not to you: it carries no name, email, or account identifier.

We also rely on service providers to run Wardrowbe: our AI provider (see AI Processing), our payment processor Stripe for subscriptions and partner payouts, and our hosting provider. They process data on our behalf under contract, not for their own purposes.

Wardrowbe partners with clothing stores. When your wardrobe is missing a piece that would complete outfits you already own, we may show you a product from a partner store. If you buy it, the store pays us a commission. That is how the partner program funds the service, and you should know it exists when you look at a suggestion.

How the matching works

The matching runs entirely on our servers. We compare your wardrobe against a partner's product feed and pick what fits the gaps. The partner does not see your wardrobe, your preferences, your photos, or your identity, and cannot ask us for them. They upload a product catalog; we decide who sees what.

What the store learns

Nothing about you, until you click. If you click, you visit their site like any other visitor, and they see what any website sees: your IP address and browser. The suggestion reference we attach lets them report the sale back to us for commission, and lets us show you accurate purchase history. It is not linked to your name or email on their side.

Your control

Partner suggestions are on by default and you can turn them off at any time in your style preferences. Turning them off stops the suggestions, and also removes your wardrobe from the aggregate statistics partners can see. We will not show you suggestions based on your wardrobe after that.

We do not use your data to target you across other apps or websites, we do not embed third-party ad networks or trackers, and we do not let partners retarget you.

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the app settings. Account deletion permanently removes all your data including:

• All clothing items and photos
• All outfit history and feedback
• Style preferences and AI learning data
• Notification settings and schedules
• Your partner suggestion history, including clicks, dismissals and recorded purchases
• Your user profile

Deletion is immediate and irreversible.

When you self-host Wardrowbe, all data remains on your own infrastructure. You are responsible for the security and privacy of your own instance. This privacy policy applies to our hosted service at app.wardrowbe.com. Self-hosted users should create their own privacy policy as appropriate.

All communication is encrypted via HTTPS. Authentication is handled through your identity provider (OIDC/OAuth). We do not store passwords. API access is secured with JWT tokens.

Wardrowbe is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
