Wore Instead (via Studio)

“Wore instead” is the most informative feedback you can give on a suggestion. Instead of just rejecting it, you tell the system what you actually put on.

The flow is now powered by Studio. When you pick wore-instead on a suggestion, you’re not filling out a mini form; you’re opening a scoped Studio canvas seeded with your chosen items.

Why It Runs Through Studio

The old wore-instead flow was a simple multi-select picker. That was fine for “I swapped the trousers for jeans,” but it couldn’t handle the real case where the outfit you wore is its own full outfit: a top, a bottom, shoes, an accessory, a specific combination that means something.

Running it through Studio means your wore-instead record is a real outfit in the database with:

  • A full set of items in canonical slots.
  • The occasion carried over from the original suggestion.
  • A replaces_outfit_id pointing back at the rejected suggestion so the link is explicit and the learning engine can read the swap as a strong signal.
  • A place in your lookbook if you want to reuse it.

Wore-instead outfits show up in the Outfits tab under My Looks and under All, filtered and searchable like any other saved outfit.

The Flow

  1. On a suggestion you didn’t wear, open the feedback dialog.
  2. Pick I wore something else instead.
  3. Studio opens, seeded with the rejected suggestion’s items so you have a starting point to modify. The replaces link is set automatically.
  4. Swap items to match what you actually wore. Use search, type filters, or AI Assist as needed.
  5. Save. The wear is recorded on the new outfit, the original suggestion is marked rejected-with-replacement, and your history reflects reality.

Signals Fed to Learning

A wore-instead save generates multiple signals in one go:

  • A negative signal for the original suggestion (rejected).
  • A positive signal for the outfit you actually wore (accepted and worn).
  • A swap signal pairing the two: “when suggested X for occasion Y, the user actually chose Z.”

The learning engine splits these signals so each one is weighted correctly. Rejecting a suggestion is mild; wearing a specific replacement is strong. Over time, swap patterns become some of the most accurate inputs to future suggestions.

What Happens to the Original Suggestion

It stays in your history, marked as rejected-with-replacement. The original items are still viewable. The replaces link in the new outfit connects the two, so you can always get back to the suggestion that started the flow.

Mobile: Mobile wore-instead uses the same Studio flow. The feedback sheet on a suggestion has a “Wore something else” action that opens the editor as a full-screen modal. Save dismisses the modal and updates the suggestion card in place.
